Doug, a Springfield, OH native and proud Miami University (OH) graduate, holds a BFA in Graphic Design and an MA in Art Education. Early in his career, Doug contributed to a summer marketing project for Coca-Cola Foods Canada, where his team's branding and marketing plans helped shape the popular drink Fruitopia. As a student-athlete, he was a member of the 1993 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship track team and anchored the record-setting 4x100 meter relay team in 1992—a record that still holds the second spot in Miami University's history.
With over 30 years of experience, Doug is a creative problem solver, visual designer, educator, and musician who has led and inspired countless creatives. His career spans influential roles at institutions such as Wilberforce University (HBCU), Central State University (HBCU), Clark State Community College, The Modern College of Design, Lexis Nexis, Adobe, TBWA, Harrison & Star, and Hero Collective.
Doug has collaborated with renowned clients and brands, including Johnson & Johnson (Erleada: Talk That Talk, Darzelex: That’s My Word), Merck (Hope for You, Hope for All campaign), Pfizer (Prevnar 13, 20), Jazz Pharmaceuticals (Pursue a Response with Zepzelca), Santen Pharmaceutical (A New Vision for Sight), and Lexis Nexis (Differences that Deliver, Advancing What’s Possible, Live to Code/Code to Live).
His work has earned numerous accolades, including the 2023 Purpose-Led Campaign of the Year award from Healthcare Marketing Impact. In 2020, he received two branding awards from Graphic Design USA magazine. Doug was named Educator of the Year by the American Advertising Federation Dayton chapter in 2011 and won the Greater Springfield, Ohio Convention & Visitors Bureau Photography Competition in 2009. His creative impact has also been featured in prominent industry publications like Ad Age magazine.
